First established in 1926, Plumas Lake Golf & County Club has long been known as the “Hidden Jewel” of the Sacramento Valley. Located 10 miles south of Marysville and just 6 miles off Highway 70, this course is a relatively short 30-40 minute drive from Sacramento and about 45 minutes from the Chico and Oroville areas. While the original 9-holes were developed by club members, the course was expanded to 18-holes and redesigned in 1960 by renowned golf course architect, Bob Baldock. This semi-private facility is open to the public and has twice been rated as a top 100 public golf course in America by Golf Digest. While playing the course, one will encounter an abundance of mature oak trees that both line the Bermuda fairways and protect the relatively small greens. A drainage canal meanders throughout the property and comes into play on 12 of the 18 holes. Playing at 6200 yards form the White Tees the course is not exceptionally long or hilly, so those seeking exercise will find it to be an enjoyable walking golf course.
In the fall of 2006, Plumas Lake completely renovated all 18 putting greens. Completed in November 2006, these greens are now 30% larger on average and feature added undulations and contours, along with a premium turf that is pure hybrid bent grass. No more Poa in these greens! You will have a hard time finding better quality puttiing surfaces in Northern California. Please visit our section “Greens Renovation Project” for a detailed explanation from the architect, Matt Hansen, about all that went in to the redesign of these beautiful greens.
While visiting Plumas Lake Golf and Country Club, you will be greeted by a pleasant and courteous staff; can warm up on a grass tee driving range; have breakfast or lunch at the Plumas Lake Grill; and pick up supplies in a pro shop that features all the latest equipment and apparel. We are committed to making your next golf experience one that will be remembered as, what our regulars often refer to, “An Enjoyable Challenge”.
